Dear Colonel Hecker:- 

Your good letter of February 1st, sent from Nassau, was received and enjoyed. I should have answered the same more promptly, had there been matters of importance to inform you of. I am glad to say, that matters here have been running very smoothly - Mr. Kennedy and Henry, have kept you fully advised of the current office business and of the little outside news of interest, I fancy.

Mr. James McGregor, passed away last week after an illness of several months, heart trouble being the cause. His successor as President of the Home Savings Bank has not yet been appointed, but his son James C. McGregor, was elected a Director yesterday.
 
After a series of interesting discussions of numerous lawyers before Davock, he issued an order permitting me to carry my claim against Currie's seats in the New York and Boston Stock Exchange, directly to Judge Swan's court; the order permits us to proceed exactly as we desired; it gives us an opportunity to establish the amount of my claim and Judge Swan will doubtless permit us to sell the two seats. He will probably direct the proceeds of the sales, when made, either turned over to the Trustee, or placed in some banking institution for future distribution. The principal lawyer opposing my claim, is Mr. Robson, who I am pleased to find is an excellent lawyer. He is a strong fighter and Mr. Donnelly tells me, that his views of the law are very sound.
