417 [[checkmark]] 33 Ferry Avenue, East, Detroit, Michigan, February 26th,1909. My dear Mr. Cobb:- Your letter of February 25th, was received this morning. I have not yet issued an authoritive catalogue of the work of the Whistler in my collection, because of its present incompleteness, and of the hopes I entertain of making additions in the future. If Mr. Seitz, will indicate the nature of the information he desires to publish, I will, if consistent, cooperate with him. Is it his intention to publish in his forthcoming work, a list of all the Etchings, Lithographs, Paintings in Oil and Water-color, Pastels and Drawings, made by the master during his life? If it is, his intention to do this, I am afraid he will find it impossible to complete his work, for the reason, that collectors are very loathe to disclose facts of this nature. However, If I can consistently assist Mr. Seitz, I shall be glad to do so, and for this reason, I should like to know the nature of the details he expects to publish. Believe me, Very sincerely yours, Charles L. Freer Frank I. Cobb, Esq., Editorial Rooms-The World, New York City, N.Y.
