Nov. 29/95.

Dear Mr. Hecker:

Since my letter of Nov. 16 little of interest has occurred here. No new contracts have been taken, but we are negotiating with the Montana Coal & Coke Co. for 200 to 400 coal cars, with the “Clover Leaf” for 300 to 500 coal cars, and with the Mexican Central for some box and stock cars. The committee in charge of re-organization of the Atlantic and Pacific is considering the withdrawal from the Santa Fe system, also the purchase of considerable equipment. I do not know that any of these trades will in the end be acquired by ourselves, but we are doing what we can to secure a portion thereof. Mr. Ledyard has not yet decided about his cars. The matter is in Mr. Vanderbilt’s hands awaiting his authorization, and it is expected almost any day. Mr. Ledyard has notified us of his intention to pay Dec. 1 for 212 of the 1,000 box cars covered by the Central Car Trust contract.

We have suffered considerable difficulty in getting material with which to start the Erie and New Haven cars, so that our output for this month, for that reason and because of the fire, [[?]] is not going to be what it otherwise would have been.

Socially there is very little to mention which in my opinion would interest you. I fancy your family however keep you informed of the most interesting events. At the office all are well and matters are running smoothly and satisfactorily.

With warmest personal regards, I remain,

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
