Dec. 28/95

Mr. W. C. McMillan,
Holland House, New York.

Dear Will:

I thought it wise not to annoy you with too many details of shop work, but to-day, as I can write you of a little more satisfactory results, I give you a summary of the condition of things as they will exist New Year’s Day.

1. The N.Y.O. & W. coal cars will all be shipped.

2. The N.Y.L.E. & W. box cars will all be built and invoiced, but possibly a few will remain at the Michigan shops a day or two longer for final painting, the bad weather of the early part of this week having delayed that branch of the work materially.

3. The N.Y.N.H. & H. box cars will all be shipped. On the 19th 4[[76?]] had gone forward, but the remaining 24 could not be built immediately thereafter because of the delay on one car-load of lumber. It arrived a day or two later however, and the change in shop work has been made so as to complete those also before the first of the year.

4. 18 of the 25 Shippers refrigerators will be built and practically all will be completed before Jan. 10.

5. About 100 of the T.&O.C. coal cars will be completed. The remaining 100 will all be built and shipped prior to Jan. 10.

By this you will see that on Jan. 10 we shall be without new work in the Michigan Dep’t, and we shall have to discontinue resuming new work there until the material for the C. & N.W. cars shall have been received, which we hope to get in by Jan. 25. This means a very little new work will be done in the Michigan Dep’t during January. The 550 C.& N.W. cars will give work to the Michigan Dep’t for February.

The Peninsular Dep’t will close down three or four days in order to put in place some of the new wood working machinery and make other necessary repairs. We hope to start the machinery departments Jan. 2 or
