My dear Mr. Griffith:

I have been hoping for some time to have a chance to chat with you in reference to the subject of the issues proposed by Prof. Morse in the letter which I now beg to hand you happily. I have been unfortunate in my efforts to reach you and have just learned that you are today in New York but that you will return here on Sunday next. Will you kindly read what Prof. Morse says to me and favor me with your views by a letter addressed to me, care of W. M. Willem, Esq., Sheffield, Mass., whose guest I am to be the early part of next week. On Saturday or next week I shall be with Prof. Morse in Boston and would like at that time to tell him what you think of the chances of his being invited to lecture here during the coming winter and [[?]] if any, our different views taken on the proposed lecture.

With warmest regards, I remain,
Yours very truly,
Charles L Freer

Mr. A.H Griffith,
Director, Detroit Museum of Art,
City.
