August 2nd, 1898.

Mr. E.D. Worcester,
Secretary and Treasurer, L.S. & M.S.R'y Co.,
Cleveland, Ohio.

Dear Sir:-

On February 2nd, 1898 I received check for $750.00 in payment of dividend of 3% on 250 shares of the capital stock of the L.S. & M.S.R'y Company standing in my name. My understanding is that this dividend was paid out of the earnings of the L.S. & M.S.R'y Company to December 31st, 1897. The Gold Bonds of the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company issued in exchange for L.S. & M.S.R'y Co. Stock bear interest at 3.1/2% from February 1st, 1898. Will you do me the favor to advise me what provision has been made for the adjustment of interest on these bonds for the period from December 31st, 1897 to February 1st, 1898, and very much oblige.

Yours truly,
Charles L Freer
