Madam:

Pardon, please, this type-written letter, but pressure of other matters compels me to adopt this method of replying to your recent note.

In mentioning my name in connection with prints, Mr. Miller I think must have forgotten that I have collected no line engravings during the last ten years. In fact, nearly fifteen years ago I sold quite a large collection of line engravings which I then owned, and since that time my purchases of black and white have been confined exclusively to the work of the painter etchers. This being the case, you will at once see that the engravings you have would not interest me sufficiently to purchase them. I have no doubt however that they are fine as they were produced during a period of excellent work in that line.
