A E I The vowels A E I O U and Y are used to classify the names, so that five-sixths of the time is saved in looking for a name. This is effected by writing the name in the column where its first vowel appears. Thus, Chas. Ford under O; Miller & Metcalf, under I. Half the time can be saved in indexing by writing inedible pencil instead of ink, thus doing away the blotters and their repeated turning. N O Nat. Academy of Design.3 72. Nat. Park Bank. 446. 670.
