O U Y The vowels A E I O U and Y are used to classify the names, so that five-sixths of the time is saved in looking for a name. This is effected by writing the name in the column where its first vowel appears. Thus, Chas. Ford, under O; Miller & Metcalf, under I. Half the time can be saved in indexing by writing with indelible pencil instead of ink, thus doing away with the blotters and their repeated turning. S Stowell, W.A. 142. Society of Western Artists. 231. Society of American Artists. 479. Shugio, H. 41. 124. 667. Styles & Bruyn Pub. Co. 248.
