Dear John
I received your note in regard to [[Havana?]].
It would certainly be a most delightful prospect could it be realized, but Mrs. [[?]] was taken worse the day after you left us and has scarcely been off her bed since. If [[there were no?]] other reasons why we could not go, this would be sufficient. You will recollect what you said to me about going to Albany? If so my position is explained.
Nothing could give us more satisfaction than to make this trip with Mrs. [[Poye--?]] and party, and I will try to see you off on
