Dear Sir:

I have just returned from Boston and cannot have the pleasure of being your host, but will call on you as soon as practicable --
By the bearer I send your portrait with many thanks -- it has done me some credit in Boston -- I showed it to the celebrated [[underline]] Stuart [[/underline]] who was much pleased with it as a specimen of art, and who recognised the likeness; although he said he had not seen you since you were a boy in Dublin.--
Washington Allston also gave it great praise--
Very respectfully re.

[Jno.? Nagle?]
