My dear Mr. Hart:
I think you will be enough interested in this subject to hold me justified in writing as follows. I heard from a friend of Mr. Poore that he had had some unpleasant [[contests ?]] with Mr. Corliss & correspondence with the Directors. It was the first I had heard of it, and I immediately explained the cause his being [[underline]] passed over [[/underline]]. as a committeeman. I could no believe before, that this failure to reply was cause enough, [[strikethrough]] when [[/strikethrough]] as I knew that others had been urged. My friend said that Mr. Poore was sorry that his relations with the Academy were thus brought to a close &c. I had never even seen Mr. Poore, but I liked his work &

his two large pictures, which will make a strong point in the Exh.
I should much like to meet your Exhibition committee. There are several matters which I have thought over a good deal--but I really do not care to present them to [[underline]] our [[/underline]] committee, until I can make up my own mind.
They are matters relating to the general conduct of future affairs, rather than those about which one could ask for instructions & I simply should like to talk them over with men of intelligence who are unbiassed. There is scarcely an artist in town, whose opinion I should not know before I asked it. Therefore, will you if not incompatable with your convenience, invite me to an [[underline]] early meeting [[/underline]] of your committee.
Excuse my prolixity please - it is on your business rather than mine and believe me
Yrs sincerely,
[[?? C. Landerkin?]]
