New Orleans January 25th 1817

Dear Sully

this will be handed to you by my friend Mr. Evans of whom you have heard me so often speak as an ardent admirer of paintings, and one who knows how to value and esteem the talents of an artist. He has long known you from reputation, and anticipates much pleasure in a personal acquaintance. It is therefore unnecessary to say more of him here or request the favour of your attentions towards him.

Mr Evans will acquaint you with my present situation and prospects. --

Remember me affectionately to Mrs Sully - Miss Sally - and the family -- They shall hear from me in due time -- Believe me your sincere and gratefull friend
