of plantation luxury & wealth. The dining room has so much silver Sheffield plate that it almost puts Gumps collection to shame; their fernery alone is larger than those of many city botanical gardens; and last but not least, the jewelry worn by the two ladies was worthy of note. The furnishings of the house are all quite victorian, yet there is no mistaking the air of wealth. 
We played bridge as the two ladies seem very fond of the game. Altogether it was a most interesting and amusing afternoon. 

[[margin]] Sunday Aug 9. [[/margin]]
After breakfast I went to the Fort with Mr Frost & Addie. We sun bathed a while and then went in the water. Addie does not swim, but I got up courage enough to go out to the raft with Mr Frost. The swimming made me very hungry. 
I slept most of the afternoon. My back was a little burned, but the cold cream fixed it up. 
After dinner we wanted to play bridge but had difficulty finding a 4th. I didn't want to pursuade Dick, but he finally offered. Considering how well he plays, and how much more he knows about the game

than the average, I dont see why he is so shy. I'm getting so that I play a rotten game. Maybe I've never played (that is bid) well, but I'm just now waking up to the fact. I ruined several good hands & lost up (Mr Frost & myself) rubbers on my dumb tricks of bidding. 
I forgot to mention that I met Mr V.P Slack, of St Kitts, at the beach. 

[[margin]] Monday Aug 10 [[/margin]]
Soon after breakfast we went to town to get a letter to Ed in the air mail, also to go to the bank. We then came home and  spent the morning writing letters to go out on the boat this evening. After lunch I took the letters to the Post Office and went to the library to browse. 
While there I got quite a violent stomach ache. I have been having difficulties with diarrhea etc again. Miss MacDonald the librarian told me that paw-paw doesn't agree with her and she suggested that it might be the source of my ails. As I've been eating more lately I'm going to stop and see if that helps. 
Mr Frost came home from the wireless station with a fever -- the supposition is "too much sun" -- I hope it is nothing
