lilies growing there. The lilies do not rest right on top of the water but their spikes are high above the water line. Black and white herons were grouped about the pond and they were very tame. The only time they moved was when Dick made a noise like a pop gun. 
I rested in the afternoon and in the evening Addie, Ginger and I went to the movies. We saw two pictures. A western with Buck Jones and "After Office Hours" by Constance Bennett & Clark Gable. They were both fairly good.

Was feeling a little low to-day so I did nothing much except sit and read. Dick and I worked a little on stamps after tea. Nothing exciting. 
[[margin]] Monday Aug 31, '36 [[/margin]] 
For the last day of the month this was another lazy day. In the morning [[strikethrough]] Addie [[/strikethrough]] I was busily writing letters to go out on the afternoon mail. I always seem to put off writing until the last minute. I worked right up until 3 o'clock and Dick took the letters down for me. Still feeling a little low.

Addie & I went up to her house to see

her cats and newborn kittens. One of the kittens had an abcess on its paw so we had to do a doctor job on it. Two of the little pussies are cute. From there we went to see about getting a puppy for Addie. Mrs Mason says Addie should call the pup Daniel as it will certainly be in a lion's den with all those cats.
In the evening we played bridge.

The morning was spent doing the usual necessary things of mending etc. 
After tea we went to play bridge at Mrs Langley's. She had 3 tables and her guests were Mrs Wm Archer, Miss Gomes, Mrs Comacho, The Misses Bowman, Miss Branch, Mrs Ross, Mrs Foote, Mrs Mason & myself. It was a very nice party indeed. We got home a little late.

It rained this morning, and as Dick had previously made remarks about my not filing the things in the box, I thought I'd get busy. I got so interested in it that lunch time seemed to come only too soon. 
After tea Dick went out to the sugar mill to see Mr Moore. I talked most of the afternoon to Juliette, and in the eve-
