ning we played bridge.
About 2 o'clock in the morning a real thunder and lightening storm came up and until 6 o'clock sleep was a matter of touch and go. I wouldnt say that it was a specially bad storm. 

[[margin]] Friday Sept 4. [[/margin]]  We were all pretty washed out this morning. Addie & Juliette are very much afraid of storms and so Mrs Mason spent most of the night bolstering up their courage. I've been more frightened - in fact I can't say I was frightened last night - but I've rarely heard louder claps. Several of the loud claps actually shook the house. The lightening was beautiful. 
Dick & I spent the morning on accounts. Fairly satisfactory for August. After lunch we worked on stamps and to bed early in the evening.

As the morning was fairly nice Dick & I decided to go collecting fossils etc at the place Mr Forrest told us of. We rode to Cobsons point and from there walked along the beach - about a mile - to Weatherill Cliff. We collected all kinds of shells and I imagine Dick got some interesting fossils. The cliff is actually teeming with fossils.

The beach looks as if it would be a nice place to bathe and I wished more than once that I had brought my bathing suit. This was the kind of tropical day which is ideal - the kind many people think we always have in the tropics. 
I got some interesting shells and we came home quite loaded down. We had to hurry as a rainstorm was approaching. We got in just in time. 
In the afternoon Patchy Lake came over and we sat talking with Juliette. We had to come in off the porch as quite a little squall came up. Mr Gomez the Agriculture man came but Mrs Mason was out at the Lords.

Right after breakfast it rained but we took things in our hands and decided to go swimming in spite of the rain. We were glad we did as the day was lovely. We walked along the beach to the far point and we collected shells and talked as we went along. When we got back to the fort we went for a swim. We got home rather late for
