Antigua #38

lunch.
After lunch Dick began to read "The Kidnap Murder Case" to me, and after that I took a nap. I think I'm a little sunburned on the back and shoulders.

Wrote letters most of the morning as the Lady Nelson goes north to-day. After lunch and before tea I took the letters to the P.O. and stopped at the Esperanza to get some Milk of Lavender for my sunburn.
There were some women tourists in town and they were buying some awful junk. I hear that Bennett Brysons is going to open a curio shop on the pier.
In the afternoon, Mrs McGinley came in for tea & he called for her later. He is a huge man and I smiled to myself when he called Dick "son". He actually towered & spread, so that Dick looked small next to him. She is very nice and I'm going to try to go visit her soon. She has been in several times when I haven't mentioned it in here.
In the evening Mrs Lake, (Etta) Mrs Masons sister, came in on the French boat. She had dinner with us and then went to her own home to sleep. She must be one of the older ones of the family.

I spent a good part of the morning getting caught up on this journal. Now while Dick is out I'll do it, and get ahead of him. My next job will be to finish Dominica, some way or other.
The rest of the day was rather uneventful.

My birthday and was a little disappointed that Dick didn't remember it before we went down to breakfast. When we got downstairs Mrs. Mason had a lovely boquet of roses for me. The Pres. Tafts are such beauties! Juliette had given me a bottle of cologne several days ago. Today is also Gov. Landon's birthday. He is 49.
After breakfast Addie and I went to town & stopped in at Bennett Bryson's for an ice cream. It was very good to-day as it had a decent vanilla flavour. Usually they get an awful taste to the ice cream by using these synthetic flavorings.
After lunch Dick gave me my birthday present which was a [[pound symbol]] 1 Leeward Island stamp. It is a big stamp with beautiful
