[[preprinted]] 50 [[/preprinted]] Antigua #40 coloring. A [[underlined]] very [[/underlined]] nice gift. This started us out on working ^ [[insertion]] on [[/insertion]] stamps which we did most of the afternoon. Before dinner Ginger mixed us some cocktails - in honor of the occassion and they drank my health & happiness. Then after dinner Mrs Lake, Mrs Mason, Ginger & I played bridge. I won a penny. Mrs Lake was rather severe with Ginger as she says he talks too much. [[margin]] Sept 10 Thurs. [[/margin]] Went to town & library in morning and it simply poured rain. Got the book "The 9 Tailors" by Dorothy L. Sayers and Ginger got "What a Word" by A. P. Herbert for Dick. The afternoon was uneventful, but in the evening there was a big Syrian wedding. I was going up to the church to see it, but it rained. However, we didn't miss out on the festivities as the party after the wedding was held down the street from us. The festivities were broken into a little as there was a fire and many of the boys are on the brigade. It was a big fire which we could see from the front gallery. By afternoon it was going full swing and the only thing to do was lie down and rest. Dick read to me. [[margin]] Sept 12 Sat. [[/margin]] In the morning I went to town with Mrs Mason. We went to the Self Help to see Mrs Duncan. This is to be the last month of operation for the Self Help. Mrs Mason bought two tables and we had tea on them that afternoon on the gallery. In the evening Ginger had a little bridge party of his own. Dr. & Mrs Winter, Addie & I went to the show and saw "Evelyn Prentice" Myrna Loy & Wm Powell. It rained hard while we were in the movies & both of us had long dresses on. That made it a little bit spattery for coming home. Just as we got to the door Dr. Winter was starting out to go for
