I also went to the Barclay's Bank to ask if they had heard from Dominica. Sure enough they had - but they were putting off the evil day of informing me that the Dominica branch had asked them to explain to me that the check had been lost or mislaid. That is what I call passing the buck to the bank here. However, the Mgr in St Kitts is in full possession of the facts, and I'm to get them from him when I get there - another buck passed. The name of the Mgr in St Kitts is Graves. I cant take any definite action until I get to St. Kitts. 
In the afternoon I went to see Miss Bessie Harper who has a stamp collection. I have heard people say that she doesnt have a very good one, but they don't know what they are talking about. Her 20th Century British Empire is one of the finest I've ever seen - if not [[underlined]] the [[/underlined]] finest. There are very few stamps which she does not have both new and used, with innumerable varieties. I had a

most pleasant afternoon with her and she invited me to come again Sunday.

In the morning I went to town to finish some last minute shopping. I went by the Bank to see if they could give me any suggestions for collecting the National City draft, which the family sent me for my birthday and as luck would have it they offered to buy it. I sold - and about 1/2 hr later all foreign exchange was closed due to Russia dumping 1 million [[pound symbol]] Sterling on the market. I went down to see Miss Gonzales at Anjo's and bought 15/ of stamps - got some honeys!
While in Anjo's an old gent. and a young man, who I took to be his grandson, came in and the old fellow [[strikethrough]] took [[/strikethrough]] began to talk stamps with me, and before we had talked 5 minutes he said he would send some Cayman Island stamps to me in St. Kitts. The old fellow seemed to take quite a [[strikethrough]] ke [[/strikethrough]] liking to me - even if I do say so - and now we'll see if he sends me the stamps or whether it was a vague promise. The old man doesn't collect for himself
