Lead is N. and N & S have to make all tricks. Spades are trumps. All hands are exposed. Leads are as follows.

The play depends on knowing what the discards of E & W are on the Spades. Especially W. N always discards same suit as W when the discards are Clubs and Diamonds. When a Heart is discarded N discards
The opening lead is always a small Heart to be trumped in S' hand. Then a Spade lead.

Rather a quiet day to day. Mr Elliott came by to say that he had a bad foot and would not be able to go on the trip tomorrow. 
In the afternoon I bought some yellow material for a dress. I also went to visit Miss Yarwood and Agnes. I notice

that I've written "Mrs" Yarwood a number of times. Yet she/is not Mrs, but "Miss." Her sister married Miss Goodall's brother and when their two children, Agnes & Claudia were left orphans Miss Yarwood took them and brought them up. Her brother, Reginald, is fairly wealthy [[strikethrough]] S [[/strikethrough]] and he has contributed to the upkeep of the two girls - now that I think of it, I believe there was also a boy, whom "Reggie" has educated.

The morning was rather uneventful. In the afternoon I went to the club to play tennis. As most of the people were up at Gov't House we had quite a few vacant courts and I got 3 sets of singles and one of doubles. I played the doubles with Mrs Law against Mr Law & Mrs Birch - we were highly outclassed. Mrs Law didn't want to play with him as they might "break each others necks." They are supposed to quarrel a lot. 
Went up to the club in a car - 6d.
In the evening I made sandwiches for the men's trip tomorrow.
Sunday October 25th 1936.
Mr Drayton, Mr Hazlett & Dick started out this morning to climb to the crater of Mt Misery. If needless advice could be
