went by the food sale and bought our turkey for dinner - that is, Isaac went in & bought it. Miss Fleming had dinner with us and the turkey was fine. After dinner Mr Albert Fleming came to visit, and Bertie his son came with him. Juanita was in Puerto Rico.
We had been somewhat second handedly invited to Thanksgiving dinner in Christiansted. First we were invited & told that it was dinner for the Americans (continentals) and later on it came out that they were charging 1.35 a plate of which about 50% was to go for drinks. Since it was that kind of party we were glad we didn't go. 
Everyone here is most interested in what will be the final outcome of the romance of Edward VIII & Wallis Simpson. The bartender at the club & his wife are English, and some of the people here have put them up on their ears with the talk. Dick & I heard nothing about it all until we got here, yet they claim a free press in England. 
Dick has a great deal in his Journal about Mr Harry Beatty so there is no

need for me to say anything more.

We gathered a great many things together to send back to the U.S. In all we packed [[strikethrough]] 2 [[/strikethrough]] 3 cardboard boxes & 2 wooden ones. The wooden ones contain specimens. One of the boxes was given Dick by Mr Forrest of [[strikethrough]] St [[/strikethrough]] Antigua. 
On the 5th the [[insertion]] SS [/insertion] Mary - which is the only boat now running from St Croix to Puerto Rico - came in at Fredericksted and Mrs Fleming & Dorothy, with Mrs Heine, mother of Mr Penthany, got off here and came up to tea. Mrs Fleming & Dorothy both had permanent waves, which I didn't admire - done at Mary Rogers. They also brought Miss Fleming some new clothes. 
In the evening we went down to the club to the monthly dance. We didnt stay long as the music was rotten, and the few people there seemed to prefer the bar to dancing. This evening we met Mr Nichols & Mr Tiley, [[strikethrough]] also [[/strikethrough]] Mr & Mrs Armstrong (Rachel) Mrs Hunt and a young gentleman who was with Tony Fischrup - name forgotten. Mrs Bridge, niece of Mrs Schroeder, was also there. 
After lunch on the 6th Miss Fleming took us over to Christiansted. We met
