[[preprinted]] 150 [[/preprinted]] Puerto Rico #22. So far I've forgotten to mention Mr Owrey. We met him last year when we were here and this year he has the room just across the hall from [[strikethrough]] him [[/strikethrough]] [[insertion]] us [[insertion]]. He seems to have aged a great deal the past year and he is not nearly as friendly as he was. We weren't "Pal ol' Pal" to him in the beginning either, so perhaps there is a reason. [[margin]] Jan 14 Thurs. [[/margin]] I have a feeling that this was rather a lazy day. I know I read quite a lot and in the afternoon we went to town to Pan-American to be sure of our reservations. Then to have some ice cream, and we bought some magazines. As usual, this evening when I had nothing to do, I sat on the bed to read, and fell asleep before I knew it. [[margin]] Jan 15 Fri. [[/margin]] I seem to be awake early enough in the mornings. I'm almost always awake at 6:30. Now that it doesnt rain so much it is lighter in the morning. I bought some energine yesterday so I did a little dress cleaning this morning. I wish I could find something to clean & darken my shoes. The only important thing we did was see "Dodsworth" with Ruth Chatterton, Walter Huston and Mary Astor. It was pretty good [[end page]] [[start page]] [[preprinted]] 151 [[/preprinted]] and there seemed to be quite a turn out of the American colony to see it. The Pluto & Donald Duck cartoon was good too. [[margin]] Jan 16 Sat [[/margin]] Went to town & got my green hat which matches my new dress. I will feel quite gay in that ensemble. I also got some dark shoe cleaner. The afternoon was spent in cleaning shoes and getting clothes in order. I also did a little packing. The evening was quite uneventful. [[margin]] Jan 17 Sun. [[/margin]] Another uneventful day. I dressed up in my green ensemble & feel quite pleased with myself. Our finances took a heavy turn today. [[pencil]] From here on Dick's Vol 6 has the Journal. Mine in a separate notebook seems to be lost Later: Found Continuation which took account up to Wed. January 27, 1937 when we went to Mrs Wooler's in Jamaica to wait for Ed Chapin [[/pencil]]
