All along the shores of the River are pretty and wooded with farms inland on high sandy soil. No houses along water except at Frederick. Saw one steamboat pass.
Came back against the wind with Evinrude motor.
After lunch tried to start Ion but pinion housing of clutch snapped and this kept us overnight on account of repair. This is the first mishap on the machinery since leaving Yonkers
Portable kerosene stoves begin to feel very welcome in keeping chill out of cabins in early morning.
Nov.11. A cloudy morning with Easterly breeze. Left at 7.30A.M. stopping once in

awhile to adjust the clutch

Shot two ducks. Lifted anchor at 10:55 AM and arrived [[red underline]] Chesapeake City [[/red underline]] at noon. Passed first lock 1:25 arrived [[red underline]] Delaware City [[/red underline]] 4:30
Cold gray and rainy. Tied up along bank before lock. Quiet calm night.
