After meeting invited Hammon and Schleussner for lunch to Columbia University Club and then and there told them that I am trying to get out of responsibilities of [[strikethrough]] Gen [[/strikethrough]] being [[underlined in red]] President of G. B. Co. [[/underlined in red]] That I had nobody to suggest as my successor nor knew of anybody. Vaguely suggested possibility of [[underlined in red]] consolidating with Condensite Co [[/underlined in red]] and make Brown President or to [[underlined in red]] join both  companies in Union Carbide Group. [[/underlined in red]] Afterwards went to Century Club then supper

May 13. [[underlined in red]] Feeling tired  [[/underlined in red]] but as a recuperation spent all day [[underlined in red]] working on Ion [[/underlined in red]] 
May 14. All day on [[underlined in red]] Ion at [[/underlined in red]] work then changed clothes to go to [[underlined in red]] Chemical Alumni Dinner of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute where [[/underlined in red]] had to speak 
Other speakers Dr. Atkinson President David Wesson, Fay and Olsen.
May 15 (Sunday). Beautiful weather The [[underlined in red]] Baskervilles [[/underlined in red]] and the Goulds of California here for dinner
May 16. All day painting and varnishing [[underlined in red]] Ion. [[/underlined in red]] Evening supper with [[underlined in red]] Momsen [[/underlined in red]] of Rio at University Club
May 17. Lunch of Am. Chemical Society to [[underlined in red]] Madame Curie [[/underlined in red]] at Waldorf Astoria. A well conducted affair. Speeches short, and well to the point
