May 18. Told to C. P. Townsend that my price for my stock in G. B. Co and control is the equivalent of [[red underline]] $1,200,000 in cash, as represented in exchange of stock, [[/red underline]] free from income tax for the transaction.

Then went to see McKee, Jackson [[strikethrough]] an [[/strikethrough]] Sherman and Pegram relative to request of [[red underline]] Buenos Ayres [[/red underline]] Chemical Association to send [[red underline]] Alumni from [[/red underline]] Argentinian Universities to study chemistry in Columbia. 
[[strikethrough]] Asked [[/strikethrough]] Told to Pegram about probability of Kendal leaving Columbia and my feeling that this [[red underline]] would [[/red underline]] be a real serious loss. Was glad to hear [[red underline]] Pegram thinks [[/red underline]] the same way. But he assures me that Trustees have already been advised and that I may say to Kendal that he will be appointed a Full Professor. Went to [[red underline]] Kendall's [[/red underline]] office to tell him the good news
