June 4 Beautiful cool weather. Spent all day [[strikethrough]] on Ion [[/strikethrough]] working on Ion with Lewis [[strikethrough]] and cleaning [[/strikethrough]] Evening Mrs. Middlebrook here with her two sons.
June 5 (Sunday) Feel exasperated at the lack of ^[[clerical]] assistance I am getting [[strikethrough]] in clerical [[/strikethrough]] in a very irritated mood.  Nina to whom I asked to typewrite a letter seems to think it a concession after bungling twice my copy.  [[red underline]] Celine [[/red underline]] in her usual cheerful magnanimous way at great trouble ^[[to her]] [[red underline]] wrote my letters [[/red underline]]

Left mooring at Spuyten Duivil about 9:30 A.M Occasional loss of time on account of adjustments to clutch and engine.  New York harbor seems quieter than any time due to [[red underline]] general business depression [[/red underline]] Few ships in harbor.  Arrived Perth Amboy at 2:30 P.M. Three five masted dejected looking schooners tied together at anchorage and
