June 30.
Pouring rain all day.
Utilized occasion for attending to many small jobs for rainy weather.
Evening boiled potatoes and sausages an unusual complication of meals!

July 1st
More and more rain
More fixing up in engine room equipment.  Dismal weather.  [[strikethrough]] Evening went to anchor [[\strikethrough]]

July 2nd.
More and more rain  evening went to anchor before Oyster Bay village.

July 3rd [[underline]] Sunday [[\underline]].
Clear sky, but warm

left for [[red underline]] Huntington Bay [[\red underline]] and anchored beyond Sandbar in cove, near pretty woods.  Many small motorboats and sailboats for anchor there on account of holidays.  Got a provision of oysters and clams collected while wading in the clear water.  Excellent anchorage, very little current.

July 4th.
Warm windless morning.  Yesterday temperature in my cabin rose to 90 degrees F but during night went down to 75 degrees F.
Nevertheless it felt comfortable in my cabin.  Thus far I slept every night under a blanket.  Afternoon temperature in my cabin 92 degrees F.  Leaden sky windless or very slight wind.  Went out sailing in dinghy exploring neighbourhood.  Pretty little bay separated by a strip from the Sound.  Long
