5" of bluish stony clay, with Littornia littorea. ? [[underlined]] "Hill creep" [[/underlined]].
12" peat.
6" shell marl
Fine stiff & very tenacious blue clay, with small stones.

Section No.3. Dug nearer side of marsh than No. 2.

24" peat with pockets of marsh & shells.
3" laminated black jelly like peat with shell pockets.
9" shell marl in zones.
3" "chara" marl, nearly white.
6" grey sands.
1" layer of marly sand with shells. Black sands for [[underlined]] at least [[/underlined]] another 12" depth.

[[underlined] Littorina littorea [[/underlined]] occurred in top layer, "Hill Creep" (?). Probably brought with sea-weed to manure the fields.
