Aug 4 - Aug 21, 1938
I didn't even write a diary for this period.  I fished, swam, played badminton - etc.  Carl stayed until Aug 6.  Caught plenty of bass, & Perch, made two trips to Cedar Lakes for fishing & had a nice string of bass each day.  Also caught a pike in Blue Sea Lake the last time I fished it.

Aug 22, 1938
Left at 9.00A.  Clara drove me to Ottawa & we had lunch at the Hayes Lloyd's.  Visited with Clara all the afternoon and then took the afternoon train for Wash.

Aug 23, 1938
Arr Washington at 1.00PM.  To the office & went over the business there.  Home with Paul Miller for dinner.  He is staying at Couches while they are away.

Aug 24, 1938.
In office all day.  Le. 6.00PM boat for Norfolk accompanied by Day & J. D Chuck.

Aug 25, 1938
Left boat at 8.30AM and drove to Mattamuskeet Lake.  It was my first summer visit.  Weather was cool & pleasant on the lake.  Things in good shape and Johnson seems to be taking hold of the thing in good shape.  The farmers are being stirred up by a group of agitators over the goose damage & we may have trouble
