Feb 15, 1939
Federation affairs seemed to be smoothing out nicely.  Ding, Carl, Walkott, C.K. & I have had several long talks and believe it is better.

Feb 16, 1939.
About conference all day.  Talked to Henderson about 1.00PM & he told me it looked sure that I'd go before house appropriation committee on Friday morning at 10.30AM.  Jake Wendel class of 09 called & came to lunch with me.  We had a nice visit.  Gave a 15 minute radio talk over W.J.R. at 3.30PM.  Back to room & met Ruby Bue (Gabrielson) for a short time.  Had a busy day, but caught the train at 5.15 for Washington.  Clara has been sick for two days but feels better today.

Feb 17, 1938
Arr Washington 8.10AM.  Saw Congressman [[Rirbeen?]] on train.  Came to office & worked with Henderson & Miss Smith all morning on the hearings.  The kept putting them off all day and at 3:30 the dept office finally phoned that if they didn't call up within the next 15 minutes or so we could expect to go over till the next morning.  
Came home & found youngsters all O.K. felt tired & relaxed quickly
