[[bold]] CELEBRITY [[/bold]]
[[image: black and white photograph of Pamela Sousa]]
[[bold]] Pamela Sousa (who stars as Cassie in "A Chorus Line" at the Shubert Theatre) chooses CAPRICCO, 33 East 61st Street. [[/bold]]
Capriccio is the sort of restaurant which imparts a special glow; it's imbued with a combination of superb food, romantic ambience and impeccable service.
In an impressive six months, the brothers Raicovich have brought their distinctive, polished touch to the East 60's. Remigio is a most cordial host, while chef Remo prepares Northern Italian cuisine of a very high order.
Capriccio translates as "whim." Yet, there's nothing capricious about the care and finesse which go into each dish. This is attested to by the discerning clientele which includes Mr. and Mrs. David Rabe (Jill Clayburgh), Sean Connery and Lee Marvin.
The intimate cocktail lounge is an ideal meeting place, and the warm-hued dining room provides a dramatic background for lovely paintings and imported stained-glass windows.
The à la carte menus, separate for lunch and dinner, offer a wide choice at non-prohibitive prices. We recommend Fromaggio Fritto (fried muzzarella cheese); Gnocchi al Ragu Veneto (potato dumplings in brown sauce); Fegato alla Veneziana (calf's liver sauteed with red wine & onions); Aragoste (Lobster) Fra Diavolo; and a panoply of magnificent desserts highlighted by a scrumptious Zuppa Inglese.

[[bold]] CHOICE [[/bold]]
[[image: black and white photograph of Vondie Curtis-Hall]]
[[bold]] Vondie Curtis-Hall (who plays Marty in "Dreamgirls" at the Imperial Theatre) chooses PANCHO VILLA'S, 2nd Ave. (cor. 78th). [[/bold]]

This enduringly popular Mexican restaurant is full of interesting paradoxes which have meshed to make it a walloping 15-year success.
"For one thing, I don't cook," says Roman Chapa, the charming owner (who also runs a long-time Larchmont restaurant and plans a second Manhattan branch this fall). "My philosophy is to know exactly how food should taste, then let our fine chef do the rest."
Second surprise: "We do not serve chili――admittedly delicious, but an invention of Texas cowboys," he explains. "I prefer authenticity."
With the expert assistance of manager Joe Barrientes, Chapa has fashioned a mecca for terrific Mexican food. César Chavez is a regular, along with Alistair Cooke and Sandy Duncan. It's a favorite of the Rockettes; also, pro football hulks who order double portions.
The colorful decor is punctuated by a jumping bar and a picturesque array of photos relating to the era of Pancho Villa, the Mexican patriot.
Delectable homemade corn chips are on each table. Most dishes are made to order, containing authentic sauces unavailable elsewhere. À la carte lunch and dinner menus are reasonably priced. Try the exciting Tacos; Enchiladas, and Mole Poblano (chicken cooked in bitter chocolate base with red pepper sauce). Super Margarita cocktails are a must.
