WHO'S WHO in the CAST

PATTI LaBELLE makes her Broadway debut after a career that spans over twenty years. A native of Philadelphia, where she now resides with her husband and three sons, she began her career as the lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebells. A string of hits in the early 60's earned them recognition as one of the top rhythm & blues groups of the period. With the advent of disco in the mid-70's, Miss LaBelle became the driving force behind Labelle, whose "Lady Marmalade" became the international disco anthem. For the last four years, she has performed as a solo concert artists in such world-renown showcases as Carnegie Hall, The Apollo, The Olympia in Paris and the Drury Lane in London. Her fourth solo album, The Spirit's in It for Philadelphia International Records, was recently released to strong critical response. Prior to joining Your Arms Too Short to Box With God, she completed and SRO national concert tour. Last season she made her TV movie debut as Maggie Holmes in "Working," a musical from the book by Studs Turkel, which also stars Scatman Crothers, James Taylor, Rita Moreno, and Eileen Brennan. For the past nine months Miss LaBelle has toured the country in Box playing to SRO audiences in this role which was especially created for her by Vinnette Carroll.

AL GREEN, the most successful soul singer of the 70's, was capable of completely dominating a concert stage. Now in the 80's this same individual can sing and minister with a sweetness and fervor that matches and surpasses any prior accomplishments. He will always be a legend. Few soul singers are mentioned in the same breath with Sam Cooke and
