gulls (or ducks). Presumably because the species is non-gregarious.

Nothing much new today. We moved the chicks to a new cage today but it doesn't seem to have affected them much (after the first few minutes - see David's notes).
Hrr has apparently been quite silent all day.
M gave some DNs after being put in the new cage (see David's notes).
Early this morning M gave 2 LN's, when isolated. Comme ca.

  Getting duller at the time!
We took both birds out of their cage around 7:30-8:00 today, to try to record them. All that happened was that M uttered a few single DN2's when handled and that Hrr uttered a few single DN1's when handled. (The different tones of the DN's of M & Hrr are still quite as distinct as they ever were.)
Before I forget, I should add that the two birds have "fought" over food (i.e. pecked at each other's bills, and tried to steal food from one another) ever since Hrr was old enough to try to feed. Always absolutely silent, without a trace of ritualized postures or movements
