of Hrr, who has not been a very good follower for quite some time. (he has long been rather variable - sometimes following use quite closely, and at other times ignoring use completely), but it is a very big change in the case of M. The time I tried following experiments with M (some time
early last week) she still followed very well.
Muttered brief bursts of DN's several times this morning when I spoke to her, but she did not utter them every time I spoke. Hrr didn't utter any DN's.
Both animals raised their tails and the rear part of their bodies several times when frightened. Quite extreme. But their reactions were not "real" TVC's, as the birds did not actually crouch. They remained standing. I think this "standing TV" is merely a low intensity version of the TVC, at the present time. But they undoubtedly perform relatively more "standing TV's" now than earlier. The TVC may be a primarily juvenile reaction, while the standing TV may be the usual adult alarm reaction.
Now that their tails are fully developed, it is obvious that the tail is raised much more than the body during TV's. More of less comme ca.

                                Quite chicken-like.
