(I forgot to mention that once, when Hrr had been standing in TV before I began to utter "Ooooooooo"s, he immediately lowered (underlined) his tail when I did utter the sounds. This would seem to be conclusive proof that the "Oooooooo" reaction does not contain an appreciable escape component.) After their (?) we separated M & Hrr, taking Hrr to a cage about 200 yds from the one in which M stayed (where they have both been living for some weeks now.) Both birds remained quite silent for a period of over 20 minutes. They both, however, assumed TVC immediately after being separated. This would suggest that the TVC is now a high intensity alarm reaction - higher intensity than the TV. While they moved around their cage undisturbed and performed their ordinary activities. Quite silent throughout (all 3 words underlined) - except once. Once, when M was apparently trying to snuggle under Hrr, in order to rest,one or both birds uttered series of DN's.
