(?) major (underlined), I.

A couple of days ago, I got 2 new (?) in the market. About half grown. Plumage like Hrr. I shall call them "A" and "B".
They are quite shy. Frequently perform TVC's whenever anyone approaches them. The day I got them, one or both birds frequently uttered cries (?) of DN's. (I couldn't tell if there were DN1"s or DN2's. They were quite undistinguished (?) sounding, quite like many series of DN's uttered by M & Hrr when the latter were uttering DN's most frequently.)
After getting A and B to the island(?), we first put them in a small cage, by themselves, in the Animal House. The next day, we also put the new baby (?) ("Wellington") in the Animal House. His appearance and/or the alarm calls of nearby monkeys threw A and B into hysterical panic. They flung themselves about their cage, with terrific force, bouncing off the sides and roof, until I was sure that they would break their wings and/or necks. But they finally calmed down, without, apparently, (?)any serious injuries upon themselves. As soon as they first calmed down, I took B out of the cage, and held it in my hands, while I inspected it. While it was held, it uttered 2 or 3 long series of short notes (each series probably included 6-10 notes). Their note were very much like ordinary DN's, but much (underlined) harsher (almost like the chirps of the Wood Rails).
I shall call such notes "AlDN's." Obviously an alarm reaction produced by relatively very strong escape motivation. (Probably also quite strong attack motivation. It would seem to be significant that AlDN's were not uttered during the immediately preceding panic. The birds
were absolutely silent during the panic, in fact.)
This morning, around 10:00 a.m., I put A and B into the out-
