Dear Germain:

I have delivered to Porges, the four drawings and the engraving...and today have given him the photostat which I had made of the important R. letter.

[[image-squiggle line bracketing the following paragraph]]
As I was filing away my copy, I realized that the document continues the actual Agreement, with the [[underlined]]single[[/underlined]] exception of 5%. I wonder if we have not overlooked an important additional exception....the new [[underlined]] net [[/underlined]] price agreement, (contained in a letter, supplemental to the Agreement) in re the portrait.

I have been of two minds as to mentioning this, for I don't want to disturb you, but if you think it necessary, you may wish to give it some thought and perhaps take it up with Mr. R. in a casual way. We were led into being very specific in that letter outlined by him and we don't want to be faced with that FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND figure....at a crucial moment. I blame myself for not having gone over the Agreement with you as a precaution before [[^h]]anding him the letter as he "dictated" it. I hope you will think that I am being unnecessarily concerned.

I wonder whether you have seen or would be interested in seeing the Cezanne Loan Exhibition. I found the enclosed announcement awaiting me here from Mons. and Mme. Lecomte and have acknowledged it with thanks. "The more you spread the news, the more people can profit" is an amusing comment.

The pleasant note from Professor Wilkinson was also here and I was sorry that I couldn't have known that "Mr." (SIR) Chester would be in Dublin. However, since Wooderson was so definite about next December, it might have been premature to meet the old boy.

The heat here is up to standard for July and you wouldn't like it. I hope all is well with you both, and as for myself, I shall go North at the first moment with a motor trip to the Province of Quebec next week.

All kindest regards and [[underlined]] warm [[/underlined]] regard.

Sincerely yours,
[[signed]] John [[/signed]]
