This festival is so great a strain for the three ^[[consecutive]] days it occupies, that I think I can not face another. Perhaps this will have been the last. Only this excuses my failure to call at the Club on Friday and make personally sure of your proper reception and full clear information as to the Oratorio time. As it was, I had not a free moment either Friday morning or afternoon. I seemed to be continuously in demand for now forgotten decisions, precautions, & public duties.

It is a wonderful thing to see one's life full of accomplishment  to know one has done something

to bless mankind that will endure forever. That is your great satisfaction in the publication of [[underlined]] Hako [[/underlined]]. I do still hope it may be yet my good fortune to make some version we can use that "whites" will understand and study - that may convey to them the great dignity and sincere enthusiasm of the ^[[original]] words!

I am sorry I have not yet been able to command the leisure. Last Summer we were in Europe, & the Summer before we were too much disturbed by a parochial crisis to make our vacation peaceful  So I read & staid out of doors, instead of nailing myself to this desk, will the "22 Report B of E. 2 [[?]] !!!
