Brookville May 20th 1870.

Major W.L. VanDerlip.
Superintent of Education

Sir.
I received your letter containing my Salary; and also understood your notice. I have received a visit to my School from Mr. J.H. Butler, and he appeared quite satisfied with my school. I have a very good size school now, and the people all are sorry indeed, at having to close it just now, at this time of the season, but on learning the circumstances they appear more composed.

Major. I have no transportation since I have been out, and they certainly will allow us it one way. I also was thinking that the association will pay the fare of us Ladies, who are going home this summer. I expect to go home this summer, my expences will be twenty-dollars ($20.00) I hope you will do the best you can for us.

Yours Very Respectfully
