BOARD OF REGENTS
MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
July 11, 1950

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution was called to order in the Colonial Room of the Cosmos Club, 1520 H Street, N.W., at 8:15 p.m., following dinner.

Vannevar Bush
A. Wetmore (Secretary)

The following also were in attendance:

D. L. Richardson, of Scudder, Stevens & Clark (investment counsel)
J. E. Graf, Assistant Secretary, Smithsonian Institution
J. L. Keddy, Assistant Secretary, Smithsonian Institution
J. D. Howard, Treasurer, Smithsonian Institution

The Chairman called on the Secretary for brief statements on current business.

ESTIMATES OF APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1951

The Secretary reported that restrictions on funds for the Bureau of American Ethnology and the Astrophysical Observatory, placed by the House of Representatives on these activities through misunderstanding of their present operation, had been removed by the Senate Subcommittee on Appropriations for Independent Offices, after a full hearing on the matter.
