Greenwood Miss Aug 31st 1868

Respectfully returned to Major S.C. Greene A.A.A.G. Bu R.F. & A.L. Vicksburg Miss, with the remark that with the best means of judging that I possess without a personal examination of the Records I think there exists no just reason why the widow of James Oneil cannot take possession of his property, for I am informed by the lawyer that was employed by Mrs Oneil that there was no deed on record in the summer of 1867. I have kept this paper designing to visit to visit Carrollton and examine the records myself, but want of transportation has prevented me from so doing.
