-relative to Contract for 1868. Bill, is reminded that he is subject to his mother until he is 21 years of age. He promises to obey his mother in future.
Jn Miller, states that several Freedmen, are on his premises visiting, so they say, their friends, but will persist in discharging fire-arms in defiance of his orders. Sheriff ordered to arrest the Freedpersons, four (4/ brought before me, they acknowledged they did fire about 20 times. Cir. No 8 series 1867, is read to them and they are fined $2.00 each to pay Sheriff expenses.
They also contracted in my presence for 1868. Terms:-$100 each, and food free of charge, during the year. I trust my action in the above case will put a stop to all such cases during the Year, for without a doubt, much valuable time is lost in such exercises, by the Freedpersons, in working time, when they should be cultivating the soil. I hope my action in this case will be sanctioned by the Asst. Coms.
