[[right corner]] 6 amount to much. Aunt Libbie always said she hated to have me pursue art because Artists were always so poor and distressed. In the first place good artists need not be poor if they will manage right. It is the bad Artists as a general thing that are poor. If I have not talent enough to be a good Artist I will give up art rather than suffer because I have not the ability to succeed, & imagine myself a martyr to the cause of Art like hundreds of poor fools I see in Paris & have seen in America. It is hard to talk so but I cannot help it, I have seen so much to disgust me since I have been in Europe & [[strikethrough]] see a little more of art that I did in America. As far as my own case is concerned I see ways I did not know of before. I left America whereby I can get a good living & perhaps make money if I choose when I return [[strikethrough]] to America [[/strikethrough]] not that I have more confidence in my own talents by any means, in fact quite the contrary, but I see different ways of applying Art. I am only in too great a hurry to get through my preparatory studies & be doing something for myself. I may possibly change my mind [[strikethrough]] however [[/strikethrough]], yet I guess not. I shall expect to hear from you soon. Very Affectionately Olin 101 Boulevard du Mont Parnasse
