Landing Sites. Landing sites to accommodate a helicopter operation are available at each of the airports although the congestion at National will add some impediments to a completely efficient operation. Particularly acute is parking space for the aircraft; and one of the applicants, NCA, is pursuing with the FAA the possibility of modifying the present traffic circle at the front entrance to serve as a landing site.
As to city centers, the landing site possibilities are very indefinite. In Baltimore a number of locations are being considered for municipally sponsored heliport, but there is no indication as to when a decision will be made, and even less definite is a construction of availability time. One of the applicants, WBHA, plans to meet this contingency on a temporary basis by using a barge anchored adjacent the waterfront area of the city.
