Office Assistant Commissioner Bureau R.F. & A.L. Montgomery, Ala Oct'r 23d 1865 The animals within mentioned are considered by this Dept to be the property of Mr J.A. Turner as they were left by Gen McCook for him. The Freedmen have no title thereto. Where however animals have been brought from a distance from the plantation by the Freedmen the title vests in them.
