34 C.49 O.A.C. Vol 3 1867 Atlanta Ga. July 29. 1867 538 Ellen Cole freedwoman Makes application for the recovery of her two children Maryann and Moses, who are living with James Young in Chambers County, Ala. States that after the death of her master she was separated from these two children that Mr. Young bought them and kept them after the emancipation. He was notified in November 1865 that the father, Ellens husband, would come for them the Christmas following. That Young refused to give up the children to him, and threatened him with violence. The children were bound to him in December 1865, after being duly notified by the parents to give them up. Office S.A Com'r B.R. F & A. L. Atlanta Ga. Aug. 1. 1867 Respectfully refered to Col. C.C.
