I herewith enclose to you the status of our present & prospective work in Va.  Wish it were tenfold more, but we dare not venture more in the present state of the Treasury.
Mr. Pratt has been about the 4th District Sept 20th visits these places, tries to rouse the people to a sense of their duties; but the building of churches is the goal of their desire, & the visits of the circus carry off the smaller change.
I fear we may get very little help from them. In Charlottesville they are about spending $9,000 for
