Bethana Dean complains that she let Mr John Johnson have her daughter, Flora Ann, and that he refuses to give her up. Will you please investigate the case and inform me at your earliest convenience. This woman and her child were free born. This man, according to complainant's statement, never had any claim upon the child.

Dunn Jim Primus
Wake Co.

The boy Nat has been at my Office insists that he will not remain with you He has no objection to Mr Dunn. He says you have no claim upon him and that you take up all his wages. The boy has probably a right to select his own place to work, and appropriate his wages to suit himself.
