Barber Thomas Esq.

Sir
Jerry Tomlinson complains that he contracted to work for you the present year for $72.00 a House to live in, a Potatoe patch, and rations for himself. He also was to have what he could make in extra time allowed him. In this time he cultivated about one acre of Corn. You turned him off without cause, allowing him only $6.00. per month for what time he staid with you. In turning him off without you make yourself liable for the wages of the entire year and what other damages, it may be whine in the loss of his garden, potatoes, and corn. You will please call at this Office and explain the matter or we shall take measures to secure justice to this man,
Yours Respectfully

Colonel.
I have the honor to request transportation from Raleigh N.C. to Petersburg, Va. for Arnold Harding & wife (col) aged 27. I respectfully request that immediate transportation be given them to Petersburg, from the fact that they have thus far paid their way from Charleston and the woman having been sick and delayed on the road with falling of the womb. They must become a charge upon the Bureau unless transportation be given them immediately.
Yours &c
