Sir:
It is evident by your overseers note that you owe this old woman $6.30 and it is needless for me To Tell you she is poor and needy. She states that you Told her if she came To The Bureau you never would pay it. You cannot consistently blame this poor old woman for applying here for assistance. Please settle the account, for it is a small one, and save further annoyance to both parties.
Very respectfully &c

Doctor:
Wm Edwards an employer of yours is indebted to Mrs. Sallie Haywood for ($10) ten dollars. Money loned by her to Edwards to pay a fine against a boy in his employ To prevent his going to jail. The money was loaned a year ago last February.
Mrs. Haywood I know to be a very worthy woman and this is a just debt & should be paid. Will you be kind enough, Doctor, To stop the amount against his pay, and forward the same to me and I will give you the necessary receipts. I presume a little "moral suasion" will accomplish more in this case than to try the law.
Very respectfully
Your. obt. servant.
